Description: This seminar provides graduate students systematic inquiry into their aptitudes, skills, and career opportunities within and beyond academia. Grounded in the principle that humanists can pursue various intellectually rigorous careers, this course uses life design methodologies and career development frameworks to help students explore professional paths. Students assess their values and skills, research sectors and organizational cultures, conduct informational interviews, and develop professional narratives. Through assessment, exploration, and action, students create career-planning strategies, build professional networks, and develop job search materials that communicate the value of their PhD training across multiple professional contexts.
