Description: This seminar is a brief journey to better understand how we can use missions and values to pursue virtuous leadership in economic fields and provide more meaning to our work lives and those of others. An integrated life consisting of high morals and empathy joined to the worthy pursuit of careers in economic enterprises (which includes almost all professions at scale) has already been, and will be, for the foreseeable future, one of the most powerful forces for good in the world. Can those who practice commerce make of it a mission—not dissimilar to the missions of doctors, teachers, or ministers, to name a few? By adhering to personal and communal virtues (i.e., moral codes and values) individuals can practice commerce and achieve success in secular work, while maintaining the respect of friends, family, and society at large.
