Description: 19th - 20th century China saw many revolutionary attacks on "culture." Course examines Chinese thinkers, ideologists, activists, revolutionaries and counter revolutionaries who focused on the culture question. It also asks: what is "culture" that requires so much revolutionary attention and what effect have China's multiple cultural revolutions had on the world. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for HIST 528 if student has credit for HIST 322.
