Description: This course explores the origin and evolution of Earth and life, traveling from the planet’s core to its crust, oceans, and atmosphere. We will examine how these interconnected systems create continents, mountains, volcanoes, earthquakes, rivers, glaciers, and the habitable world we know. Using the rock and fossil record, we will reconstruct how Earth and its environment have changed over time. The course will also offer perspectives on modern society by considering how critical minerals, energy, water, and soil shape geopolitics (past, present and future) and how environmental change may affect future livelihoods. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for EEPS 101 if student has credit for ENST 101/ESCI 115/ESCI 301.
