Description: What is the current state of the art historical field? Looking at contemporary scholarship across a range of historical periods, the class will introduce students to a selection of some of the most important, ground-breaking, and / or influential writings in art history produced in the last 25 years or so. Paying particular attention to an array of recent trends, methodologies, and political interventions, this class will examine some of the most pressing questions, debates, and advanced interdisciplinary theories within current art historical practice. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for HART 369 if student has credit for HART 569.
