Description: This lecture course will present an in-depth survey of piano repertoire from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. While the curriculum will primarily focus on notable repertoire and composers, students will additionally gain familiarity with the various styles that emerged in the past 125 years. Students will complete a capstone project centering on one area of academic interest within the repertoire. This is a required course for MM piano majors; it is also open to undergraduate piano majors and non-pianist music majors pursuing their undergraduate or Master’s as an elective credit.
