Description: CULTURAL STUDIES: RACE, GENDER, AND THE POLITICS OF REPRESENTATION ***** Examines the use of audiovisual media in the production and contestation of racial and gender identities in mainstream and oppositional forms of culture in the U.S. and abroad. Considers theories of representation, subjectivity, and the politics and economics of mass media, experimental art forms, community-based activist video, and independent film production. ***** Also offered as ENGL 387 and WGST 387.
