Description: Language Acquisition examines how we go from making a few sounds as infants to being able to read and discuss Shakespeare. The course explores how language develops by engaging with major theories, analyzing real data, and evaluating competing explanations. Students will generate hypotheses, interpret developmental patterns, and think critically about the methods and challenges involved in researching how humans learn language. Cross-list: LING 325.
