Description: This graduate seminar surveys the award-winning ethnographic monographs of the past five years. By focusing on twelve books that have garnered accolades, students will analyze the theoretical and methodological interventions that define the discipline. Students will develop a comprehensive map of contemporary conversations in anthropology and a critical understanding of the institutional metrics—the "honorable mentions" and other prizes—that shape the canon.
