Description: This course examines and defamiliarizes ties of kinship—family, friendship, as well as chosen, symbolic and disrupted bonds—that shape human experience yet are often taken for granted. Through literature, film, philosophy, and theory, we will explore how these connections have defined identity and community across cultures and time periods.
