Description: Beginning with a historical survey of the American metaphysical tradition, this course turns to a close study of the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, CA, as a unique window to some of the different ways tradition has appropriated Asian religions, psycological models of the unconscious, and contemporary scientific paradigms.
