Description: An introduction to algebraic structures. Covers basic group theory (including subgroups and quotients, permutation and matrix groups, group actions) and basic ring theory (including ideals and quotients, polynomial rings, unique factorization). Recommended Prerequisite(s): MATH 354 or MATH 355 or MATH 221 Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for MATH 356 if student has credit for MATH 306.
