Description: An introduction to Galerkin's method and the method of least squares applied to partial differential equations. Computational considerations for efficient interpolation, numerical integration, solution and post-processing methods. Error estimation and adaptive finite element analysis. Requires the use of solid works for a student project and a supporting literature survey. Cross-list: MECH 517, Graduate/Undergraduate Equivalency: CEVE 417. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for CEVE 517 if student has credit for CEVE 417.
