Description: This seminar provides an exploration of testimonial writing, a crucial and controversial Latin American genre that aims at giving voice to those marginalized within society. Looking at testimonials by indigenous militants, poor women, war crime survivors, and insurgents the course explores the meaning of truth and fiction, historical reckoning, and trauma. Taught in Spanish. Previously offered as SPPO 452. Mutually exclusive. Credit cannot be earned for SPAN 451 if student has previously taken SPPO 452.
