Description: This course explores important moments in the history of Latin American European and North American Art by reading literary works that dramatize the transformations of several key artistic movements. 19th century landscape painting, Post-impressionism, Surrealism, Muralism, and 1960s experimental art will be studied through the novels and poems of important Latin American authors. Previously offered as SPPO 343. Mutually exclusive. Credit cannot be earned for SPAN 343 if student has previously taken SPPO 343. Recommended Prerequisite(s): Third-year Spanish or permission of the instructor.
