Description: Rock physics, the study of the impact of rock microstructure, mineralogy, fluids, stress state, and diagenetic features on wave propagation in porous media. Understanding the use of such relationships for quantitative analysis of seismic datasets. Applications to geologic carbon storage, permafrost characterization, geothermal systems, and hydrogeology. Graduate/Undergraduate Equivalency: EEPS 458. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for EEPS 658 if student has credit for EEPS 458.
