Description: This course covers various numerical methods for solving partial differential equations: aspects of finite difference methods, finite element methods, finite volume methods, mixed methods, discontinuous Galerkin methods, and meshless methods. Both theoretical convergence and practical implementation of the methods are studied for elliptic and parabolic problems. Cross-list: CMOR 423, Graduate/Undergraduate Equivalency: CEVE 555. Recommended Prerequisite(s): CAAM 336 or CMOR 304 Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for CEVE 455 if student has credit for CEVE 555.
