Description: Examines religious currents that operate in the margins of traditional religion: the gnostic, esoteric and mystical. Covers how these categories were theorized. Explores how they continue to identify contemporary religious currents that are considered transgressive and are rejected by conventional religious authorities. Class is grounded in antiquity and historical method. RELI 615: Write 7,500-10,000 word research paper. Graduate/Undergraduate Equivalency: RELI 415.
