Description: This course introduces the processes that shape Earth and other planetary surfaces as well as how records of these processes are preserved on landscapes and in sediment deposits. This course will cover a range of topics including surface hydrology, erosion, sediment transport, and chemical weathering and connect them to the development and interpretation of the stratigraphic record. All topics will be treated using descriptive (qualitative) approaches as well as a range of quantitative methods. This course requires a once-a-week 3-hour lab. Prerequisites ESCI 101 or ESCI 107 or ESCI 108 or ESCI 110 or ESCI 111 or ESCI 115 or ESCI 201 or ESCI 301 can be taken concurrently or with permission of instructor. Recommended Prerequisite(s): MATH 101, 102, PHYS 101 or 111, CHEM 121 or 151. Recommended Prerequisite(s): MATH 101, 102, PHYS 101 or 111, CHEM 121 or 151.
