Description: Examines Judaism as a "People of the Book," recognizing Judaism's dominant religious preoccupation for millennia to be the reading, study and performance of Jewish scripture, particularly the Torah or the first 5 books of the Hebrew Bible Topics: book culture, act of reading, canonization, revelation, and rabbinic, philosophical, mystical interpretations. All readings are in English. Graduate/Undergraduate Equivalency: RELI 302. Mutually Exclusive: Credit cannot be earned for both RELI 526 and RELI 302.
