Description: This course is designed to explore the problems of bordering, debordering and rebordering today. Specifically, the course deals with the problem of borders in an increasingly integrated world, where borders represent the symbol of sovereignty at the edges of the nation-state in open contradiction to the growing desire for human, economic and technological mobility and the need to deal with globalized crises in fragmented spaces and policy processes. To understand these tensions the class explores the issues border flows, border security, immigration, human rights, and borders functions and processes.
