Description: Course centers on dissidence as a concept and a practice, both ideological and esthetic. Covers a selection of figures, genres, media, and movements of "French" expression from Montaigne to present. Limited enrollment to 12. French Studies majors will read works and write papers in French. Recommended Prerequisite(s): Completion of one 300-level course or permission of instructor Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for FREN 482 if student has credit for FREN 582.
