Introduces the main fields of linguistics: phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, discourse, historical linguistics, sociolinguistics, and psycholinguistics. Highlights the interdisciplinary relationship of linguistics with anthropology, sociology, psychology, and cognitive sciences.
