Description: This course focuses on functional imaging modalities used specifically in nuclear medicine such as Gamma cameras, SPECT, and PET imaging. The course will introduce the basic principles of image acquisition, formation, processing and the clinical applications of these imaging modalities and lays the foundations for understanding the principles of radiotracer kinetic modeling. A trip to a clinical site in also planned to gain experience with nuclear medicine imaging. Additional coursework required beyond the undergraduate course requirements. Cross-list: ELEC 586, Graduate/Undergraduate Equivalency: BIOE 486. Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for BIOE 596 if student has credit for BIOE 486.
