Must be enrolled in one of the following Level(s):
Graduate
Description: In this half-semester course, students will first get acquainted with acid-base theories, key stereochemical concepts as well as acyclic and cyclic conformational analysis. A thorough understanding of these topics will be required for the advanced discussions of reactive intermediates and mechanism of various substitution reactions, additions/eliminations, fragmentations as well as homologations. The synthetic utility of these important transformations will be demonstrated by pertinent examples from the literature (i.e., case studies). Participants will also be engaged in hands-on problem-solving sessions throughout the class that will ensure the mastery of key concepts as well as structure-reactivity principles. Repeatable for Credit.
