Description: 19th and 20th century China saw many revolutionary attacks on "culture." Course examines Chinese thinkers, ideologists, activists, revolutionaries and counterrevolutionaries who focused on the culture question. It also asks: what is "culture" that requires so much revolutionary attention and what effect have China's multiple cultural revolutions had on the world. Cross-list: ASIA 321.
