Description: This course examines the theoretical, cultural, and social grounding of gender and language use. We use the analytical tools that not only from linguistics, but from cognitive science, cultural anthropology, psychology and biology. Emphasis is placed on the historical role of gender in such research, and the debates that result as perspectives shift.
