Description: Through this interdisciplinary course, students will obtain knowledge of the basic elements and major classes of molecular sensors, nano-devices and biomedical microsystems; achieve an understanding of the fundamental principles behind the operation of these systems; gain an understanding of standard microfabrication techniques and apply knowledge of microfabrication techniques and applications to the design and manufacturing of such medical microdevices. This course will include a hands-on laboratory component to be completed in the Oshman Engineering Design Kitchen that will allow the students to experience real-world challenges related to diagnostic device development.
