Description: What is the relationship between democracy and freedom? Democracy and justice? What does "government by the people" actually mean, and how have people imagined this differently across time? This seminar uses political theory, history, fiction and film to examine how democracy and democratic politics can enable ( or undermine) human well being. This course is limited to first-year students only, any others will be removed from this course. Cross-list: DUNC 162, FSEM 162.
