Description: This course examines the process of managing public policy issues from a corporate perspective. This course will attempt to answer the following questions: • How does one structure and use political risk assessments to identify current and potential public policy challenges? • What planning techniques help manage public policy issues most effectively? • What process elements and stewardship tools are needed to optimize outcomes from managing public policy issues? • What skills and best practices should be used in engaging in advocacy with stakeholders regarding a public policy issue, whether that be governments, the media, non-governmental organizations, the general public, industry organizations or employees? • What is the role of corporate social responsibility in achieving a company's goals in the public policy arena? • If a company were to find itself in a crisis situation as a result of some situation created by public policy, what are the keys for successful communication by that company?
