Description: This course teaches basic dance making skills (choreography) for all styles of dance. Units covered will include the creation of inventive movement through improvisation, structures for a dance, how to extend your movement ideas, partnering, working with a group, and the selection of dance themes, music, and props. Students will be required to compose short dance studies that will be critiqued in class through codified dance criticism methods then revise work. 200-level students must write a 5 page paper on a choreographer of their choice. Prerequisite: Successful completion of LPAP graduation requirement. Department Permission Required.Equivalency: LPAP 148.
