BIOE 372 - BIOMECHANICS

Long Title: BIOMECHANICS
Department: Bioengineering
Grade Mode: Standard Letter
Course Type: Lecture
Credit Hours: 3
Prerequisite(s): BIOE 252 AND MECH 211 or permission of instructor
Description: The principles of biomechanics are central in the functions of the human body, including load bearing, motion, normal and pathologic physiology, as well as healing. The objectives of this course are to introduce and analyze biomechanical principles using stress and strain, load and deformation, and material properties. Though the primary focus will be at the tissue level, the modern field of cell biomechanics will also be discussed. Additionally, aspects of the design and use of medical devices will be presented.
