Description: Review and analysis of major theoretical approaches to second language acquisition among adults. Major topics covered are: linguistic, cognitive and sociocultural factors in language development, instructed and non-instructed settings, research methodologies, development stages of acquisition. Major emphasis on morphosyntactic development, but attention to phonetics and lexicon too. Cross-list: SPAN 381.
