Description: COGNITION AND L2 ACQUISITION ***** This course provides an in-depth analysis of general cognitive processes in second language development and cognitive based theories of second language acquisition. Some of the issues to be discussed in detail are perception, attention, memory, automaticity, restructuring, sentence processing, learnability theories, language and intelligence, critical periods for language acquisition, etc. ***** Also offered as LING 420. ***** Prerequisite: Advanced Spanish or permission of the instructor. ***** Instructor(s): Salaberry.
