Description: TRADITION AND DISSIDENCE ***** Graduate version of FREN 482. Philosophical expressions and cultural constructions of dissidence from the 16th century to the present. The seminar will cover several genres and periods and will deal with such figures as Montaigne, Voltaire, Baudelaire, Rimbaud, Gauguin, Segalen, Saint-John Perse, Borduas, Duras, Simon, Arcand, Darrieussecq, and Sansal. Enrollment is limited to 12.Seniors must have prior approval from instructor.
