Description: TOPICS IN SEMICONDUCTOR NANOSTRUCTURES ***** Lectures/discussions on advanced topics in semiconductor nanostructures. The topics include: the quantum hall effect; excitons and polaritons; Bose-Einstein condensation; mesoscopic phenomena; spectroscopy of wires and dots; Bloch oscillations; ultrafast/nonlinear optics; spintronics; and quantum information processing. Students read original research papers and review articles, and present seminars on assigned topics.
