Description: UNDERSTANDING POSTMODERNISM ***** A study of broad cultural change that is still unresolved, and still controversial. Attention will be paid to postmodern issues in history, philosophy, postcolonial studies. Marxism, feminism, and psychoanalytic theory, with less explicit attention to postmodern issues in literary criticism. The visual arts, including film, will be presented not in isolation but in a matrix of cultural wholeness. Lectures, discussion, slide and film showings. ***** Enrollment limited to 12.
