Undergraduate version of FREN 582. Philosophical expressions and cultural constructions of dissidence from the 16th century to the present. The seminar will cover several genres and periods and will deal with such figures as Montaigne, Voltaire, Baudelaire, Rimbaud, Gauguin, Segalen, Saint-John Perse, Borduas, Duras, Simon, Arcand, Darriesussecq, and Sansa.
