Description: GEOMECHANICS ***** An examination of frictional and brittle deformation processes within earth's shallow crust, with a focus on the principles of rock and sediment mechanics from experiment and theory. Emphasis will be on geologic applications, including sediment compaction, slope failure, fault mechanics, and earthquake nucleation and rupture.
