Description: MODERN SPANISH AMERICAN NOVEL ***** Works by Asturias, Carpenter, Rulfo, Onetti, Vargas, Llosa, Cortazar, Fuentes, and others. Examines how Spanish American novelists from the 1940s onward appropriated the techniques of European modernist literature and infused them with new cultural content. ***** Prerequisite: Advanced Spanish or permission of the instructor.
