This course focuses on the relationship between health and social inequality at multiple points acorss the life course--in utero, early childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and old age. Three forms of inequality, and their importance for health, are examined in depth; socioeconomic, racial/ethnic, and gender. Students will read and critique scholarly works, and will spend the semester developing a research paper that examines a topic in relation to social inequality and health. This will be taught at UT SPH and cross-listed as PH 1498L.
