Description: REGIME TRANSFORMATIONS AND TRANSITIONS ***** This course examines why political systems may change from democratic to authoritarian, or vice versa. It distinguishes between different regime types and explores the conditions promoting social movements, political unrest, and military coups. The course examines factors that help to consolidate the newly formed regimes. Examples are drawn from a variety of postcolonial states. ***** Enrollment limited to 13.
