Description: NUMERICAL METHODS FOR PARTIAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS ***** Structure and properties of the finite element method for statistics problems in mechanics, electromagnetism, and other field theories. Finite difference methods for initial/boundary value problems of fluid flow, heat transfer, and wave motion. CAAM 436 recommended. ***** Prerequisite: CAAM 336 or permission of instructor. Computer programming in Matlab is required.
