Description: JEWISH & CHRISTIAN COMMUNITIES IN THE MIDDLE AGES ***** 'Jewish and Christian Communities in the Middle Ages.' New forms of communal organizations developed in medieval Christian Europe that were different from the patterns of Jewish self-government in Babylon, Israel, and Islamic countries. This course will discuss characteristics of Jewish communal organizations, their parallel features and their connections with Christian communal organizations, and their relationship to the rising modern states.
