Description: ISLAM IN SOUTH ASIA ***** Topics will include emergence of Indian Muslim society; Muslim reponses to colonialism and the movement for Pakistan and the role of Islam in politics in contemporary India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Requires no prior knowledge of Islam or South Asia. Also offered as ASIA 432 and HIST 432. ***** Enrollment limited to 12.
