Description: ISLAM IN SOUTH ASIA ***** Topics will include emergence of Indian Muslim society; Muslim reponses to colonialism and the movement for Pakistan; and the role of of Islam in politics in contemporary India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Requires no prior knowledge of Islam or South Asia. ***** Also offered as HIST 432 and WGST 432. ***** Enrollment limited.
