Description: SOCILINGUISTICS ***** Topic: Issues of language and gender, race, and class. The course will begin with an overview of contemporary sociolinguistic theory and methodologies. We will then examine the linguistic consequences to speakers of their membership in groups, defined in terms of gender, race, and class. ***** Also offered as LING 415.
