Description: CHRISTINE DE PIZAN ***** The Franco-Italian women poet Chrisiine de Pizan was translated into English during the 15th century along with other poems dealing with the subject of female experience and the female hero, such as Jean d'Arras's "Melusene" and Boccaccio's "Concerning Famous Women". This seminar will examine these and other English poems about women as early as Chaucer's "Legend of Good Women" and as late as the "Assembly of Ladies", "Floure and the Leafe," "The Assembly of Gods", and Thomas Hoccleve's "Letter of Cupid".
