Description: THEORETICAL PRESPECTIVES ON THE VISUAL ARTS ***** Exploration of overlapping themes central in the history of art, using texts from Plato to post-modernism. Includes the use of biography, style, connoisseurship, quality, the social basis of art, theories of change in the arts, psychology, iconography, and the modernist canon and post-modern challenges to that canon, as well as race, gender, class, authorship, and audience.
