Description: THE SPANISH CIVIL WAR ***** Prelude to World War II and culmination of perennial struggles between the so-called "two Spains," the Spanish Civil War (1936-39) is a watershed moment in modern Spanish and European history. This course studies examples of Spanish and foreign novels, poetry, drama, eyewitness testimonials, film, painting, journalism, and posters. ***** PREREQUISITE: Third-year Spanish or permission of the instructor.
